The Decision
Chapter 29
Date: May 9, 1990
Location: Aboard Inferno
Mission: Figure out what place and time we'll travel to next!
Paul barfed again, the second we reappeared on Inferno. I had a little laugh at his expense. He slugged me in the arm. "Asshole," he choked out.
"Chill out, Paul. Maybe you're just not cut out for this time travel thing."
Suffer
Did I never suffer?
Did I never find my face in the dirt?
A cocktail of tears, defeat, and apathy
Summed up by one girl's scream
And they took away my alarm clock
Because they thought I'd make a noose
With the cord
No one noticed on the 4th
A cacophony of crackles
A plethora of pops
and slowly something snaps
"Light another daddy"
"ooh""wow""awesome"
sizzling sparklers and snakes
backyard barbecues and booze
fireworks, friends and family
so much joy and jubilation
except for seperated singles
Amongst all the excitement
would anyone wonder why
the last blast
seemed to reside inside
Sanguine
As I finally finish, I lay down the colored pencil
Not sure exactly why I made that choice, but it seemed apropos
The rusty shade matching my skills in expressing emotions
or maybe a flash back to high school,
where this was always the color used to correct mistakes
Or maybe the scribbles portend a purpose
I put on my heavy coat,
stuff the letter into my pocket
and head out into the snow
knowing that I will finally escape this sorrow
and put the past beneath me
by the time I reach your place,
