3. Lie to Me

chocoholic8's picture

I've seen dead lights before, when I was a child, when my mother was still among the living. Little impish things danced in it, a light shrouded by the fogs that a friend of my mother's claimed to creep from the underlands. They were supposed to travel from the Lakes of Fire, or the Forests of Diamond, to bring the dead to pleasure, or to sorrow. The dead lights that had come for my mother, killed from a car crash, were periwinkle.

None came for the corpse in front of me.

11 .== The Movement of a Hand

"I just don't get it," Jimmy sighed between sips of his beverage, some unknown alcoholic concoction prepared by the bartender. Jimmy--not much of a drinker to begin with--had only one request: "Give me something that'll fuck me up in a hurry." The bartender obliged, and after a few sips, Jimmy was certainly feeling the effects.

Light-headedness, a mild sense of euphoria, a bit of disconnection from reality, none of which were enough to put him in a good mood.

The ship landed gently, at least, as gently as was possible for such an ugly, gangly and barely air-worthy thing. Keri winced as she was jolted to the side and would have flown out of her seat if she hadn't been buckled in. Across from her, Harry grinned like a devil, or something else. "Just think, Keri, we'll be the first humans to walk on another inhabited planet!" he told her.

Alantha and Linear: Original meeting

Aloria's picture
Linear sighed and took another drink, he really missed Dlenn but now she was too busy with Kirklan. That really bugged Linear, why would she choose a human over one of her own kind?

Alantha and Linear: Linear's Death part 2

He is sitting across the room. Sitting at a table alone. Wonder what his problem is. He looks to be trying to forget something. Same reason I'm in here probably. I hate killing, but it's part of the job. It doesn't look like he's noticed that I'm watching him. Put on the drunken act. Perhaps listening to someone else's problems would help me forget mine.

Ugh, I can't stand at all, apparently I'm more into my drink than I realized. Whee!

Alantha and Linear: Linear's Death part 3 (Alantha's Death)

Aloria's picture
The years seemed to crawl by for Alantha. The first few nights without him were the worse though. She'd look for him in her sleep, then wake when she couldn't find him. It also hurt to wake in the morning and see his side of the bed undisturbed. It had been six years now, since he'd died, she wondered how she'd lived that long without him. Often, she'd just sit and stare at nothing, hoping the loneliness would go away.

Alantha and Linear: Linear's Death part 1

Aloria's picture
Alantha slowly walked over to her bed, slightly disgruntled about being so old, but there was really nothing she could do about it.

Aloria's Beginning

Aloria's picture
Aloria peered in the cupboard for something to eat. She knew dinner was in a few hours but she was hungry. No one else was home so she was free to sneak food. She sighed, there wasn't anything that didn't require a lot of preparation. Twisting one of her tiny braids around her finger, she went to do her homework. Dlennda had done hers and had gone out to play with her friends. Aloria had put off even looking at her homework until everyone was gone.

Twenty to Life

gorzek's picture

I heard on the news today
Paris is in flames
the King is dead
and no one's seen the President
for at least two months
not since someone shot his double

Guess things kind of went to hell
I'm on my fifth bankruptcy
serving it out under county lock
while the wife and kids are
whoring themselves out again
south of Vegas, making my bail

A dozen spics are squatting
in my grandfather's house
outside the ring of rubble
that was my hometown
