The Squirrel
I saw it, sitting, in the road
On the white dashed line
It looked up, down
It did not see me
I watched as it simply observed
The world around it
I heard a roar behind me
An approaching car
"Run!" I mentally bade the squirrel
"Slow down!" I begged of the vehicle
As it tried to flee, it was struck
The car didn't even slow down
As it slay the small animal
Its tail stood straight up
Its eyes blinked once more
I stood over it as its breath
The Lights in the Sky
Ribbon of light, cutting across the sky
Blue-green, swaying in the firmament
A wisp of red slicing through, through
The filament of chaos, a kaliedoscope of brilliance
It waves, slowly, hypnotically, in the azure dome
Narrows, widens, it splits into new threads
Each one, its own beginning and end
Eternity in the sky
Male caddisfly
Flies flew frantically.
Fevered, flittering frenzy.
Forsaking fulfilling friendships,
forgoing fickle flirting,
forever fucking females.
Finding, fornicating, forgetting.
Finish first, fleeing.
Frisky. Frolicksome. Fey.
Feel frighteningly familiar?
Plotted Course
I wrote this after awakening in the middle of the night, another bout of insomnia.
I did see the leaf fall earlier in the evening and it seem to hang in the air just for me. :-)
Summer
of thick, golden heat and
flawless skies, their honest gaze
an open book, blank page
waiting, waiting
for an inscription
This day
of sweat gilded skin
lustrous perspiration sheen
each glistening bead
a silent offering
upon the pale altar of my breast
winds whisper, all soft
nostalgic voice,
invisibe satin lips
familiar
against the tenderest
hollows of your neck.
Asymmetric,
sprawled
left leg askew
Fall- Oh, my deer ( working title)
** very rough and EE ish which is not my forte. I do think the way the single word can go with the line above or below in many cases is ok and I will work on this one more later. Katie is going hunting tomorrow so I wanted a little good luck poem for her. As I get up in 4 1/2 hours I am bagging it for tonight.**

The Whore
Origin (Draft 1)
I had the thought that this could be very first virtual reality he goes through, since it is Origin...and the Garden of Eden, etc.
A-lliteration
An affable and amicable aardvark ambles along.
Apprehensive ants avoid and avert.
Accusation: aardvark ate an ant's aunt.
Animosity, anger and abhorrence abound.
