Your ability to post your own work and participate in the forums is based on your point total. There are many ways to earn points:
- Commenting on other people's book pages.
- Having your reply to a book page labeled the "best reply" by the page's author.
- Having your book pages viewed by others.
- Rating book pages.
At a bare minimum, you will need to carry a balance of 50 points at any given time to have full access to all site features. That's a "mere" 10-50 comments on other people's work. You might also sweet talk other members into donating their points to you, however it is preferred that you earn your points!
When you rate a book page, you will see several messages about gaining and losing points. This is normal. The system first deducts any point you might have earned from a previous vote, then adds a new one. It may do this a couple times. It's just a redundant calculation, but you receive the points you should.
Please note that Bookzek administrators and moderators may reduce your point total if you are found to be posting comments that are inappropriate or otherwise unhelpful. The intent of this system is to facilitate cooperation and improvement. If you are making an honest effort, you will get your points, so don't give up!
